2017 09 06 Budapest to Calabria

I spent all day dragging Simon around Budapest, I think I might have broken him, he says he needs a rest.
We needed some culture, so headed to a museum, learn a lot about Hungarian history, the went across the Duna (Danube) to the fortresses on the hills on the other side. Back into town, Lunch at a very local place, then tonight we flew to Calabria, where we are waiting to see what Italy will offer us, seems warm and very friendly.

Oktogon station

Oldest working underground metro in the world.
It is just under the road, 15 steps down.

Had lunch at szimple, the place on the right, hipster tasty modern place, really good

Subways under the big intersections

Love those standard Budapest apartments., all similar, all different. They all have a tunnel through to a courtyard.

Foyer of a random building I walked into

Some nice modern stuff thrown in as well...

At the museum

Top Left:
Olegardus pater LaDux Lit
My middle name is Algirdas, so this is the Lithuanian Arch-Duke I am named after

Siege of Budapest 1865 or so, from memory.

Fakanal Reataurant at the market.... say no more.

Simon loading up on Hungarian sausages

Gellert pool. We didn't go in, this is just the foyer

Climbing up to the top of the citadel.

Back down into Pest

Nice stair details in Dean Ferenc square

The oktogon polyhedral dungeon master robot monster advancing across the airport tarmac...
