2017 09 18 Tartu Karlolva in the rain

Lots of walking in the rain today, up through Toome hill and in to the Appartidehuis to meet Jazmina for lunch, then a long wet brolly walk through Karlova, where I was just basically walking in circles around the area, amazed by the old timber buildings. I have photographed this area I think twice before, there are probably the same buildings here again in some cases.

From the bridge

Mostly the graffiti guys stay away from th buildings, hit the public utilities instead....so far.

The Saarinen church looks a bit shocked.

Autumn is certainly upon us...

Long wet walk through Karlova

Here you can see the rendered building was once a weatherboard building (and under all that is actually a log cabin!)

Those birches spring up anywhere...

House being renovated. Note that it is actually a log cabin under the timber board cladding.

The old paint looks great. So different to what I am used to in Australia. The paint looks at least 40 years old, and the timber itself is in fairly good nick.
